Plymouth-based Engineering Business Shortlisted for Three Business Awards

Plymouth-based engineering business, Rittal-CSM, has been short-listed for three more major South West business awards.

The company is a contender for Business of the Year, Manufacturer of the Year and Apprenticeship Development at the Western Morning News Business Awards 2019 https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/shortlist-western-morning-news-business-3358765.

Winners will be announced at a glittering ceremony to be held at Plymouth Pavilions on Thursday 21st November 2019 – an event which promises to be a double celebration as it will also mark the Western Morning News’ upcoming 160 birthday.

Rittal-CSM has had an outstanding 18 months.  The business, a leading global provider of industrial enclosures, power distribution, climate control, and IT infrastructure as well as software and services, has registered 30 percent growth, taken on 200 new members of staff, and increased its apprentice headcount by 24 percent.

Its achievements have been recognised and rewarded across the board; Rittal-CSM was named Manufacturer of the Year at the Western Morning News Business Awards 2018.  It also won Business of the Year and the Apprenticeship Development Award as the ‘stand out winner’ at the Plymouth Business Awards earlier this year.

One of the company’s key focuses in recent years has been the development of its structured apprenticeship training programme, providing qualifications and hands-on experience for its apprentice workforce. It has developed close partnerships with a number of local educational and skills-focused organisations including City College Plymouth, UTC Plymouth and the University of Plymouth and Skills Group, as well as Jobcentre Plus.

Such has been its success, many former apprentices are now long-term employees, enjoying continued personal development, secure employment, international links, competitive salaries and great company benefits.
